The Steering Committee
The Steering Committee is an important component of citizen involvement in the planning process of a new community park. Working with Hillsboro park staff, the steering committee has and will continue to suggest programming elements and designs to guide public participation, and will review these designs as they evolve and make recommendations prior to public meetings.
Steering Committee Objectives:
Steering Committee meetings are a forum for discussion and brainstorming. The Master Planning process explored a variety of ideas and design alternatives, and then focused in on a plan that best serves the greater community.
The final product will include:
- Indoor Recreation Center Master Plan
- Land Use Master Plan for the entire Community Park
- Future Aquatic Facility Location
The Master Plans will guide development and show the essential organization of the park, including paths, entrances, park events, relationships between various park features, and how to best arrange these features within the park space. The site will be developed one phase at a time – with the assurance that all pieces will create a cohesive whole organized by the Master Plans.
The Aquatic Facility Concept Plan will provide a rough outline for the location and size of a future facility. An independent master planning process will be undertaken in the future, focusing strictly on aquatics needs and facilities.
